The existing detached property was inconsistent with the large plot and surrounding dwellings. The brief was to increase the accommodation and create a more interesting front and rear elevation. The design took into account that increasing the accommodation without "breaking up" the front and rear elevations would make the property look bland and uninteresting. The central extension created and "sun lounge" to the ground floor and a balcony extension to the first floor. The side extension provided a large kitchen with lantern light over and further bedrooms on first floor.
